Hydra heeft ongeveer 2,170 inwoners, die vaak niet in de kleine typische Griekse huizen wonen, maar in trotse Venetiaanse herenhuizen. Bijna allen mensen wonen in de hoofdstad Hydra-stad, enkele tientallen wonen in de gehuchten Episkopi, Kamini, Mandraki, Molos, Palamidas en Vlychos.
